I want to start this post by thanking all of you readers, as my blog recently crossed the 100-post mark after just over 2 years. That’s a lot of words put down in what seems to have been the blink of an eye. Those 2 years sure went fast – accelerated it seems by Covid and all the mayhem that we’ve endured because of it.
It’s been fun to create posts and to be able to write about whatever topic comes to mind. Many of those topics arise out of everyday situations when I am not thinking about writing. Some come from news and yes, sadly, some have come from politics. I’ve tried to keep from taking sides in those cases and just present facts, ask questions of you readers, and include a call to action. A call to action is the common thread I’ve tried to weave into each post; taking whatever the topic is and building in a life lesson to make it relevant beyond the post topic. I hope ai have succeeded with that.
Putting together weekly posts has been and continues to be a release for me and is therapeutic in that it gives me a creative outlet while exercising my brain – and fingers. Picking topics to write about is usually pretty easy but there are times when I can’t quit put words together in a way to make the topic work in the theme of this blog. Those topics get put on my list of topics to address and wait until my brain makes the necessary connections to turn them into full-blown posts. Just like when brainstorming, no potential topic is discarded outright. It may never make it to the big time, but it deserves the chance to be thought through.
As I’ve mentioned before, blogging never entered my mind until I retired and had time to exhale and think about what I wanted to do, and what I could do while we were locked-down. With a couple of promising projects shelved due to Covid and other circumstances, it’s become my creative outlet and has provided a sense of purpose and achievement. It’s also forced me to learn some new skills: how to setup a website, what “SEO” means, creative writing in short bursts, and discipline to create content worthy of being read.
It hasn’t always been easy turning out weekly posts, but it’s been fun. And I’ve come to look at the world differently, more closely observing and absorbing life around me with a greater appreciation for connections that had often been missed or overlooked. That in itself is reward enough for the work that goes into writing.
In closing, thanks again to all of you who regularly read my posts. The feedback and comments I receive from you are much appreciated. I also want to encourage you to let me know any suggestions you have for future blog topics. Gaining insight into what interests you will help me keep my posts relevant and likely will help me see things from a new perspective.
