Hollow Victory

The below is a request for the “victors” celebrating the Supreme Court’s recent decision to step back and heed my previous blog post, “Take the Time to Think”.

Congratulations to the pious minority who finally succeeded in forcing your beliefs on the majority of this country. You have also succeeded in upending our secular democratic republic by making your minority religious views law. While you celebrate, please consider a few things: You have divided this country so deeply in the name of your religion we may never recover. What is your plan to care for all the unwanted, disabled and abused children? How about paying the medical bills for the disabled and for the mothers injured during pregnancy? Support for families impacted? As you are so concerned about these children, I’m sure you will take care of all these families. Further, how do you justify banning something that is an individual choice and therefore doesn’t have to impact you? For you, the pious minority, I wonder how you will react when another religious group succeeds in imposing its doctrine on you. Please think about all this as you celebrate your “victory”.

Side note: Have you noticed how those who are the most vocal for small government are the same who scream the loudest for government intervention on issues that fit their agenda? Hypocrisy at its finest.
